Our Story

Happy Marlo is on a mission to empower children emotionally, one breath, tap, and sound bath at a time - to promote more of the good stuff about growing up, providing tools and resources to empower children so they can navigate the inevitable ups and downs of life.

We’re excited about our vision of the world where children grow into resilient, positive and strong adults.  Young people who don’t carry the burden of early traumas, negative feelings and low self-esteem, but carry light hearts, and clear creative minds set up for success, whatever that might look like for them.

Our Founder

I didn’t exactly have the best start in life. This is no sob story, but it’s my story. Born in London in 1978, to a White British teen mother and father unknown (let’s agree he was Black Jamaican),  a mixed-race baby with a single mother wasn’t exactly UK society’s favoured expression of a ‘family’ at that time. After a turbulent start with my birth mother, at the age of ten months I was taken into foster care.

I was adopted by the Clarks, a white family. Kind, loving people, but unsure how to provide the emotional and cultural support that I needed, leading to a constant search and questioning of identity. Feelings of being different at school, and an ‘outsider’ followed me as I grew up, and significant bullying when I was a teenager added to more insecurity and low self-esteem.  However, resilience!  I didn’t know it then, but I had a superpower, and one which supports me to this day.

The healing modalities Happy Marlo is bringing to children were not known to me back then.  Oh, how I wish they were!  This is my gift to all children, and also my inner child.  Together, we’ve got this.

Love, Rebekah x
